It’s amazing how a dad shapes your life. They teach little girls how woman should be treated via their actions towards their wives, sisters and other females in their lives. Recently we moved house and it was painful when packing up the kids’ stuff – really painful! Between the children and working full time, packing was a nightmare! Out of sheer desperation, I decided less was more, and went on a one woman sorting spree that resulted in us donating almost 80% of the kids’ toys. The 2nd ever Grade R parents evening started like the first one had. Nervous glances around as parents sized each other up and polite “Hellos” and shy glances at the Grade R teachers as we were ushered in after signing a register.  In front of us stood the 3 Grade R teachers and our instructors for the evening.  On the agenda was how phonetics were being taught as well as how the news would be done by each child.
